Move over, Anthony Birdbrain. Here are some photos from my work trip to Cuba.
What an experience! A truly beautiful country and a look into the past. It was clear within my first 10 minutes of arriving in Havana that some of what us Americans think about Cuba is true, but a lot of it is not true at all. In fact, it’s the opposite. And it’s the bad things that proved not to be true. You can’t imagine surviving without the internet at the touch of your finger tips? You’ll be fine, I promise. You think the Cuban people are unhappy and oppressed? Wrong. Everyone I met in Cuba seemed truly happy, and proud. Havana is filled with resourceful, hard working people.
There’s so much culture to explore. During the week that I spent in Havana, I bought cigars from a Cuban man on his patio overlooking the ocean, and I tasted roasted pig skin. (Worst vegetarian, ever.) And getting to see Ernest Hemmingway’s house? Come on.
