Habor – John Ajvide Lindqvist<\/a><\/p>\n

Finished this chilling tale yesterday, making it the first book I’ve completed in the new year. Or does that\u00a0not count since I read 90% of it last month?\u00a0Either way, I’m a big fan of Lindqvist’s\u00a0previous two books, Let the Right One In<\/a> and Handling the Undead<\/a>, and this third novel\u00a0is right up there with the others for me.\u00a0While the\u00a0story\u00a0starts\u00a0off a bit slow, it picks up speed around the middle which\u00a0leads up to\u00a0the roller coaster\u00a0free-fall plummet\u00a0during the\u00a0final scenes.\u00a0The crescendo at the end is fully worth the time it takes to get there,\u00a0and\u00a0Lindqvist is such\u00a0a master at creating frightening and disturbing\u00a0imagery, I think I’ll\u00a0still have goosebumps long after putting this one back on the shelf.<\/p>\n

I’m looking forward to\u00a0Lindqvist’s next work, but I might take a breather\u00a0and read something a little less scary first!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
