I know I’m a little late with this one.\u00a0It took me a while to explore the whole album. My Grimes love affair has been a slow burn.<\/p>\n

I\u00a0first discovered\u00a0“Kill V. Maim” through\u00a0an Apple Music playlist months ago and after many (many many) re-plays\u00a0of that one\u00a0song, I gave\u00a0the rest of the album a listen.<\/p>\n

I didn’t really get it, but I wanted to. I found\u00a0myself listening and re-listening to mostly the first half of the album, appreciating “California,” skipping past “Scream” to get to “Flesh Without Blood,” but I never really made it past that halfway mark. And then I forgot about it\u00a0for a while.<\/p>\n

Then, I’m not sure what happened, I think I was on a flight and only had a few things\u00a0on my iPhone to listen to, so I revisited the album.\u00a0This time, in its entirety, making it to all the songs on the back half. Something clicked then, because one by one,\u00a0I fell in love\u00a0with”Realiti,”\u00a0“World Princess Part II,” and most of all, “Pin,” which has\u00a0become my favorite and most played (over and over and over) track on the album. Even more than\u00a0“Kill V. Maim.”<\/p>\n

The album is a brilliant compilation\u00a0that is imaginative,\u00a0angry and\u00a0scary while also\u00a0beautiful and thoughtful, a little weird,\u00a0a lot experimenty,\u00a0and stands on its own as a unique pop record unlike any other.<\/p>\n
